James Gatlin- Creator of BoomerX Music
Do you remember when music actually had a soul?
Do you remember turning on the radio and hearing a melody that stayed with you all day, or lyrics that told a story you could actually relate to? For those of us in the GenX and Baby Boomer generations, music wasn’t just background noise—it was the soundtrack to our lives. It was clean, it was fun, and it meant something.
Lately, however, it feels like that magic has disappeared from the airwaves.
The Problem with Today’s Playlists Let’s be honest: modern music has lost its way. If you turn on a Top 40 station today, you’re bombarded with one of three things: aggressive rap, heavy metal that sounds like noise, or songs that are strictly political and divisive. Most of it feels produced by a machine, lacking the heart and craftsmanship of the artists we grew up with.
Somewhere along the line, "good, clean fun" was replaced by shock value and controversy. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of it. I don’t want to be lectured by a pop star, and I don’t want to sift through tracks that have no melody or meaning.
Welcome to BoomerX Music . That’s exactly why I decided to take matters into my own hands. My name is James Gatlin, and I’m the owner of BoomerX Music.
I created this station for the millions of listeners who feel left behind by the modern music industry. At BoomerX Music, we have a very simple rule: No disco, no rap, and no heavy metal.
Instead, we focus on the "Real Music." We play the tracks that defined an era—the songs that GenX and Boomers know by heart. This is the music that makes you want to roll the windows down, tap your foot, and remember the good times. It’s clean, it’s high-quality, and it’s curated specifically for people who still value great songwriting and authentic performance.
Join the Conversation I didn’t just build this station for myself; I built it for us. But to make it the best it can be, I need to hear from you.
I invite you to head over to boomerxmusic.com. Crank up the volume, enjoy the trip down memory lane, and most importantly, chat with me.
I’m always looking for ways to improve the station and make it the ultimate home for real music lovers. Let me know what you love, what you want to hear more of, and how we can keep the spirit of GenX and Boomer music alive and well.
Radio doesn't have to suck. Come see what real music sounds like again.
